Don’t surround yourself with “smarter” people. The trick is to surround yourself with people who are free in ways you’re not. (Ribbonfarm) I’ve been living by this concept before I could consciously articulate it.
Finding the right people is the challenge of a lifetime.
Really enjoyed this. A reminder to put yourself out there to connect with others.
“Being free in ways you’re not”. I love this way of thinking!
I’ve set my life up so that I can do whatever I want, whenever I want. Like pick up my bags and travel halfway across the world, at a moments notice. Already done that, multiple times!
How many people can say that?? So many are trapped in jobs, expectations, routines that are undesirable. It’s important for all of us to craft the life we want to live.
I found a friend, who is now my situation, simply from mutual work sitches & being a cheerleader, but i live EVERYDAY feeling safe and myself around them, and it's the least expected friendship i ever thought would fill my life w this much joy, but beauty truly lies in the eyes of the beholder 🥺💙
This was such a great read - thank you
Stumbled upon your Twitter and now I'm here.
Just opened one letter and I'm already in love. Your writing is so beautiful and serene.
"They differ in what they value."
"Finding the right people is the challenge of a lifetime."
"Beauty in the most distilled sense has the power to crack open belief systems."
"It's hard to find, but it's everywhere. You just have to look."
Will always read your work as long as I can, to be inspired and to learn (both about life and how to write).
As I find myself in a period during which many of my social circles are unravelling, this writing came at the perfect time.
Thank you Nicole. Your writings have made me see parts of myself which I was not attending. I will revisit it some more times so that I am reminded about friendship.
i love this. thank u so much for posting!
takeaway: im just talking to the wrong ones...
Really enjoying your substack. They are so relatable. Enjoyed every word of it.

so good as always. this was beautiful. thank you <3
I really enjoyed reading this. And I love how you describe beauty as inner radiance.
Really enjoyed this and shared with a bunch of friends! I like how "free in ways I am not" is a way to frame admiration that’s entirely free from envy.
