Reading this and through Henrik’s post on co-evolutionary loops made me think you might like a fine article on the “throughput of learning”[1] where Tiago Forte writes about “listening for assumptions”:
“[The] deepest assumptions can only be revealed through experience and stories, not by reading books or having intellectual arguments. We do these things through the same old lens, and thus cannot examine the lens. It takes another free mind, reaching up and taking off our spectacles, to show us the cracks and the foggy areas.”
just as i was reading your life lessons from 2022, i get a notification just as i'm about to sleep that there is another post from you. i had been waiting. and now i knew, the next day when i woke up , i would have something interesting to start my day with.
reading your life lessons and who do you admire? i saw a remarkable connection , that draws me to your writing . not just because it is extremely well organised or concise, thought provoking ..while it is definitely all of that i see someone who knows, who thinks and pays attention. the slow journey of reaching who you are today, the long process, and i see a little bit of myself in there, reading what you write.
since i subscribed a long while ago, it feels like i have grown with you , going on this journey alongside, cherishing the beauty of life, and like you said , " Life gets bigger, more inclusive, richer, the more you keep your mind open."
I used to listen to this song when I had my first breakup https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEFxfVyz4Uc and all the time when I'm listening to it again, all my memories are coming back instantly - I don't want to go back there since years ago. I know that if I didn't have to go through all of that, I wouldn't be here today. Those special moments would just be lost behind many other common ones and I wouldn't have evolved without them - they are a part of who I am now. Some people are special and they're not meant to stay in our lives forever. I'm glad they come and go, otherwise it wouldn't be possible to experience life from a different angle with different perspectives so easily. We'd just become more rigid and complacent. It's important to experience pain at some degree before being able to appreciate life at its fullest.
